Children's

Ministry

"Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it."  Proverbs 22:6

Please be aware that due to COVID-19, we are limiting the in-person children's programs for the time being.  On Nov. 22, we will resume Children's Church and following that date, we are hoping to continue having Children's Church on the third Sunday of each month.  Confirming dates will be announced each month.

Our indoor worship services began on November 1st, and children are welcome to attend with their parents in the sanctuary.  Everyone over the age of three must follow the COVID-19 protocols, which includes wearing a mask.  We are hopeful that we will be able to resume regular children's programming in the near future.  In the meantime, please check our "For the Kids" page for special links and additional information.

Our Mission

Our Values

Our Values

Our mission is to provide opportunities for the spiritual growth and development of our children in age appropriate, developmentally based programs and events which also fully optimize each child's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth.

We believe in raising kids of real faith, leading them...

  1. To develop a personal relationship with the Living God through Jesus Christ.

  2. To develop a love for God and His Word by building a solid foundation of biblical knowledge through age appropriate lessons, teachings, workshops and hands-on experiences.

  3. To develop a love for people, a burden for lost souls and sharing the Gospel.

  4. To develop DVCC's states values:  devotion, passion, unity, generosity, worship and discipleship.

We believe that imparting core values is key to foster a sense of belonging and accountability.  It is also a great behavior management tool.  Values focus on who we are, where rules focus on what we do.  We believe that if we sow Godly values, we will reap Godly behavior.

These are our values and they are recited by our staff, volunteers and children during our programs and events.

  • We are DVCC children!

  • We're accepted just as we are.

  • We're kind.

  • We respect each other's thoughts and struggles.

  • We're safe.

  • We're all in this together.

  • We're neat.

  • God is here, ready to be our friend because we matter!

  • We're kids of real faith!

FIRST TIME GUESTS

At DVCC, we believe in raising kids of real faith, so we have a ministry geared just towards them.  Currently, the children are divided into three age groups:  Nursery, Toddler/Pre-K and 1st-5th grades.

When you arrive for the first time at DVCC, you'll be asked to complete an information form.  This form allows your child's teacher to be informed of any allergies that he/she may have as well as other pertinent information.  Once the form is complete, a greeter will direct you to your child's classroom.  Make sure that all items staying with your child are labeled with the child's or family's name.

It is possible that your child may cry when you leave, and our volunteers are prepared to provide your child with the comfort they may need.  We are confident that in time, your child will adjust and thoroughly enjoy his/her time in class. Should there be an issue, a volunteer will contact you during the worship service. When the worship service concludes, please pick up your child promptly.

We look forward to meeting you and your child!  Please let us know if you have any questions by completing the contact form at the bottom of this page.

WELL CHILD POLICY

To ensure the health and safety of all children in attendance, as well as our volunteers, we ask that you keep your child home if he/she has been ill within the last 24 hours prior to attending any service or event, has been taking antibiotics less than 48 hours prior to any service or event, or if he/she displays any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever at or above 101°

  • Excessive coughing or runny nose due to cold/virus

  • Diarrhea or vomiting

  • Skin rashes (excluding diaper rash or prickly heat)

  • Conjunctivitis (pink eye)

  • Lice
