There have been some interesting results from what at first appear to be relatively simple acts. Here’s a list of several needs that have been met by the DVCC family over the past few months:
The congregation collected over 70 blankets for donation for victims of Hurricane Sandy in the New York City area. What a great response! Thanks to everyone who cared enough to provide these!
We received a request from the Juvenile Detention Center to provide a laptop. Several individuals stepped up to contribute and a laptop was purchased. Need met? Not so fast, my friend…another individual stepped up and donated a second computer as well. The JDC is thrilled with the response and young people will have opportunities otherwise not available to them thanks to the generosity of those who donated.
One of our congregation has had some difficulties recently and had to spend some time in jail. Several members of our congregation sent Christmas cards to this individual. He reported that he was the only one in his block to receive ANYTHING for Christmas. He noted that in that environment, Christianity is looked upon as a ”weakness”, but he was able to display the power of God’s love in a very visible fashion to those around him…just through a simple card or note.
The important thing to see here is that God will take what we can give and multiply it in a very powerful way. We will continue to keep you apprised of these ways God is working through DVCC in the Delaware Valley. We hope you will be encouraged enough to review our Current List of Needs to see where you can get involved. Be random this week and help with an Act of Kindness!
